Processing EDI orders online, real-time production plan adjustments, and minimizing inventory - the dream of commercial and finance departments. Animotech PIM makes dreams come true: your competitors have already implemented adaptive production management.
Client
An American multinational company, the second-largest food producer in the world, with over 90,000 employees. It uses EDI exchange for order management and supply chains.
- Revenue: over $27 billion USD
- Business geography: products represented in more than 160 countries
- Assortment: around 1,000 product types
Problem
Inefficient sales planning and control process:
- Actual sales execution can significantly deviate from the planned due to objective reasons. It is important to timely identify "plan/actual" differences and take measures to prevent overstocking of warehouses and surplus production that will be difficult to sell.
- Plans and forecasts are calculated in Excel, orders are processed in SAP, shipment data is generated in the WMS system.
- The operator had to manually gather data on plans and actual shipments for each item of a new order, calculate the remaining planned volume and the percentage of plan execution.
- Manual data collection from different systems and preparation of the "plan/actual" report for all customers and the entire range took up to 20 hours for each report. Human errors often occurred. Seeing up-to-date "plan/actual" data at any given moment seemed impossible.
Solution
The Animotech Core platform, capable of supporting MDM and PIM processes, aggregating data from EDI documents, and calculating real-time analytical reports of any complexity. Within 2 weeks, we implemented:
- Real-time processing of EDI orders with built-in plan-actual analysis for produced/shipped products: taking into account the current date and the number of remaining days in the planning period, an indicator illustrating the percentage of plan execution is calculated.
- An automated notification system for management on critical situations: timely identification of causes and taking measures to address them, adjusting production/shipping plans.
- An interface for configuring reporting indicators and notification dispatch without involving development.
Business Impact
